Disney World inaugurates roller coaster that combines speed and visual effects inspired by ‘TRON’


The new one Tron Lightcycle/Run, a roller coaster that transports you to a digital world and that is the fastest attraction of its kind in any Disney theme center, came into operation this Tuesday, April 4 at its Magic Kingdom park in Orlando.

Disney highlights in a released statement that the new attraction, located in Tomorrowland in the Magic Kingdom park, it’s the fastest roller coaster from any Disney theme park, along with its sister at Shanghai Disneyland.

The new attraction, according to Disney, combines the thrill of a roller coaster with speed, visual effects, music and “a unique travel system of its kind”, thanks to the 95 kilometers per hour that it reaches at its maximum acceleration.

The roller coaster is inspired by tron1982 American science fiction film directed by Steven Lisberger and based on the life of Kevin Flynn, a video game developer who is transported to the world of software in a futuristic setting.

The construction required about 3,800 pieces of steel with a weight of 1,900 tons for a structure that has a length of 914 meters.

Tron Lightcycle/Run It has a cover of 15,240 square meters that protects it from the inclement weather of Florida, it is 32 meters high and has more than 1,200 lights.

Disney announced that the novelties that the park incorporates this season included the performances of the Colombian musical group Piso 21 in the Garden Rocks Concert Series as part of the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival, which is held until July 5.

Luis Figueroa and Puerto Rican Melina León also recently performed at the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival.

The novelties also brought the return of the show “Happily Ever After” with a team of Disney Live Entertainment artists including Hispanic artists Katrina Mena Rick, Ana Beltrán and JP Pérez.
